People of Jerchira the birth place of Governor Hyacinth Alia, across all political party divides have reaffirmed their resolve to support the present administration given the governor’s dedication and commitment towards delivering dividends of democracy to the people.
The Jerchira people comprising Vandeikya and Konshisha Local Government Areas all from Benue North East Senatorial District, made the reaffirmation yesterday at Tse- Agberagba the headquarters of Konshisha Local Government Area, in reaction to recent political developments to demonstrate their solidarity to Governor Alia and to urged him remain focused and firm to deliver democracy dividends to the people without distraction.
Addressing the rally whose attendees were from different political backgrounds, Elder statesman, Senator Barnabas Gemade who doubles as Chairman, APC Elders Forum in Benue State, said Jerchira people have resolved to support their son in whatever situation making it difficult for him to have a smooth ride in rendering services to the people.
He told the people that the Benue Assembly had to wade into a matter lingering between the executive and the judiciary where several issues are presently under contention, explaining that the Assembly decided to wade in to do its oversight function.
Gemade revealed that since then there has been lot of distractions with detractors using a section of the media to cause confusion, emphasizing that Jerchira people voluntarily came together to dispel all rumours being peddled about what took place between the Assembly and the State Chief Judge to set records straight.
“We are here, all the parties, APC, PDP, Labour Party and every other party that is existing here in Jechira, their leaders are here to express our solidarity for the Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, for the good work he is doing in the state and also to commend the state Assembly for living up to expectation to do its own work of sanitizing the system.
“The message is that we had given our governor the support to move in and perform like Aper Aku did, like Adadu started to do, he should live in their footsteps and move forward.
“That time we said that no Jechira person should contest election against him until he completes his eight years.
“Today, we want to say that we will stand with the governor in all his trials and troubles that the detractors are going to present to distract him from office. We will be with him in fighting them,” Gemade said.
Also speaking, former chairman of APC in Konshisha, Alhaji Abubakar Nyongo, said Alia’s coming has brought a lot of relief to the people of the state.
A member of the Benue State House of Assembly representing Vandeikya/Tiev State Constituency, Mathew Damkor assured that Jechira as an intermediary is one and is 100 percent behind their son Governor Hyacinth Alia cannot be changed because of his performance.
On his part, coordinator Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN in Konshisha LGA, Rev Vincent Guda, said all the clergy in Jechira are solidly supporting Governor Alia to succeed in leading the state to greater heights, adding that as a clergy the governor is doing the right thing.
In the same vein, former chairman of Konshisha LGA, Mrs Mwuese Bebe, who spoke on behalf of women said “The women do not have problem with our Governor, he is doing very well and we are solidly behind him”.
