365Daily – At least eight people are feared trapped following the collapse of a two-storey building in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, on Tuesday morning.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 5:30 a.m. in the Popo-Giwa, Madalasi Zhogoro area, off Sijikobi Road, in Ilorin West Local Government Area of the state.
Eyewitnesses said several people were believed to be inside the building when it collapsed, including nursing mothers and children.
Following the incident, residents of the area joined emergency responders in an effort to rescue those believed to be trapped beneath the rubble.
Personnel of the Kwara State Fire Service, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and officials of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) were reportedly at the scene conducting rescue operations.

Efforts to obtain an official statement from the emergency agencies and the Kwara State Police Command on the cause of the collapse, the number of people trapped and the progress of the rescue operation were unsuccessful.
