365Daily – Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, has stressed that the success of any development project should be measured by its impact on the people, not merely by its appearance on paper.
Abbas made the remarks while inspecting ongoing projects across Zaria, Kaduna State, saying such inspections provide an opportunity to assess progress on the ground, identify challenges and pursue practical solutions.
The projects span infrastructure, education, technology and social development, reflecting what the Speaker described as the need for development to be deliberate, inclusive and measurable.
During the inspection, Abbas visited the Agoro Underpass Bridge, Kofar Doka flyover, Schools for Persons with Disabilities and Orphans, Banzazzau, Technology Incubation Centre, Nagoyi, Women Development Centre, Zaria Education City I, Kofar Gayan and Zaria Education City II, Dutsen Abba.
According to the Speaker, the projects represent more than physical infrastructure, as they are expected to provide safer roads, improve access to education, create opportunities for young people, promote inclusion for persons with disabilities and strengthen support for women and communities.
He emphasised that the responsibility of public servants goes beyond commissioning or announcing projects, noting that officials must regularly inspect projects, assess progress and ensure that commitments made to citizens are fulfilled.
“The ultimate measure of every project will always be the difference it makes in the lives of our people,” Abbas said.
He reaffirmed that the work would continue, with a commitment to maintaining high standards of delivery and ensuring that development in Zaria produces tangible benefits for residents.
