The Member representing Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency II in the House of Representatives, Hon. Barr. Jesse Okey Joe Onuakalusi, has commenced the rehabilitation of Community Road in Okota, Lagos State, in response to years of complaints over its deteriorating condition.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, Onuakalusi said the project was part of his commitment to addressing the infrastructural needs of residents and improving living conditions across the constituency.
He described Community Road as a vital route within the Okota area, noting that it serves thousands of residents, business owners, commuters and other road users on a daily basis.
According to him, the rehabilitation is expected to ease the difficulties faced by residents who have endured the poor state of the road for years. He noted that previous reports and repeated appeals from members of the community had highlighted the urgent need for government intervention.
The lawmaker said effective representation should not be limited to debates and motions on the floor of the National Assembly, but must also translate into projects capable of producing measurable improvements in the lives of constituents.
He explained that the rehabilitation of Community Road represents another step in his efforts to promote infrastructure development, community renewal and people-oriented representation in Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency II.
Onuakalusi said improved road infrastructure would facilitate smoother movement, enhance road safety and provide easier access to businesses, schools and other essential facilities.
He added that a properly rehabilitated road would also help reduce vehicle maintenance costs while creating an environment capable of supporting greater economic activities and opportunities for residents.
The lawmaker described the project as an investment in both physical infrastructure and the welfare, livelihood and dignity of the people, stressing that communities deserved infrastructure that could support their daily activities and economic aspirations.
He expressed appreciation to community leaders, residents and other stakeholders for their continued engagement with his office and for drawing attention to pressing developmental needs across the constituency.
Onuakalusi assured constituents that he would continue to pursue initiatives aimed at converting promises into practical projects, adding that development efforts would be sustained across Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency II.
He reaffirmed his commitment to responsive representation and service to the people, declaring: “The work continues. The service continues. The development continues.”
