The Federal Government has expressed condolences to the Government and people of Pakistan following a fire outbreak at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad, which reportedly claimed the lives of at least 14 newborn babies.
The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, in the hospital’s maternity ward, leaving several families devastated.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, conveyed the country’s sympathies to the Pakistani Government and people, particularly the families who lost their newborn children in the incident.
The Federal Government also expressed concern for those injured in the fire and wished them a swift and full recovery.
