The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has dismissed as false and misleading a statement issued by Kaduna Electric on August 26, 2026, alleging transmission constraints affecting electricity supply to Jos and its environs.
TCN, in a statement signed by its Management, said the claim was a misrepresentation of the actual situation on the transmission network.
According to the company, all 330kV transmission lines connected to Jos are currently in service and transmitting bulk electricity
TCN explained that the only incident recorded was on August 23, 2026, at about 3:30 a.m., when the circuit breaker on the Jos–Lafia 330kV Line 2 was opened as part of routine voltage control measures to maintain grid stability.
The transmission company said the line was subsequently restored and returned to service at 11:59 a.m. on August 24.
It stressed that there has been no outage or disruption to bulk electricity transmission on any 330kV line supplying Jos since the restoration of the line.
TCN reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and the efficient transmission of bulk electricity to Distribution Companies across the country.
The company urged Kaduna Electric and other stakeholders to verify information with TCN before making public statements on transmission-related issues, warning that inaccurate claims could mislead electricity consumers and create unnecessary anxiety.
TCN also appealed to electricity customers in Jos and surrounding areas to disregard what it described as the misleading information, assuring that it would continue working with Distribution Companies to promote stable and reliable electricity supply.
