The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), FCT Chapter, has presented its newly reconstituted Local Government Working Committee for the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
The presentation was held on Saturday at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, with a former Councillor representing City Centre Ward, Honourable Otumba Nathan Eneh, emerging as chairman of the committee.
Addressing the new executives and ward chairmen, Eneh urged them to work closely with party members and stakeholders to strengthen the NDC and ensure victory in the 2027 elections and beyond.
He said one of his immediate priorities would be for all wards to constitute polling units committees comprising at least 12 members, in line with the provisions of the party’s constitution.
Eneh also directed all ward chairmen to familiarise themselves with the polling units within their respective wards, stressing that effective grassroots mobilisation would be crucial to the party’s success.
He said anyone appointed as a polling unit executive must possess a valid voters’ card and demonstrate commitment to the party.
“Don’t start making use of only your family members,” he cautioned, urging the ward leaders to build inclusive structures that would accommodate committed party members.
According to him, the party would print forms for those interested in working for the NDC, while measures would also be taken to identify individuals allegedly working against the interests of the party from within.
The meeting was attended by the FCT senatorial candidate, Barrister Amanda Pam; her Campaign Director-General, Comrade Peter Diugwu; FCT Publicity Secretary, Pastor Samuel Iloh; Deputy Publicity Secretary, Moses Okorie; FCT Ex-officio member, Charles Bello; members of the AMAC executive and the 12 ward chairmen of AMAC.
Also speaking, Honourable Hassan Grema expressed confidence in Eneh’s leadership, describing him as an experienced politician.
“For Otumba to dislodge my team when I was a councillor, I respect him a lot,” Grema said.
He expressed optimism that an NDC victory in 2027 would usher in changes in the political administration of the FCT.
“If we win this election, Insha Allah, we will remodel politics in the FCT. We will sponsor bills to make Abuja a better place. Tell your people across Nigeria to vote NDC in 2027,” he said.
Diugwu, Iloh, Okorie and other party leaders urged the ward chairmen to operate inclusively, register more members and commence grassroots campaigns for the party and its candidates.
The reconstituted AMAC executive includes Ibrahim Haruna, Aliyu Kabiru, Loveth Ezeorah, Ishaku Ibrahim, Austin Okokpokiri, Philip Sampson, Larai Mahmud, Amina Musa, Bashiru Umar, Mubarak Lawal, Emmanuel Bassa, Hamza Ismail, Ijeoma Agbasemeto, Inyang Ebinne and Patrick Okechukwu.
Others are Mark Ezugwu, Muhammed Diga, Evelyn Obehi, Gowon Daniel, Ibrahim Kalid, Nnamdi Igwe, Coikida Chinke, Leonard Eboh, Shaibu Jubrin, Khadija Ma’auya, Godwin Daniel, Aisha Mohammed Said, Attoe Oyube, Babangida Abduallhi, Nnamdi Ohazurube, Njoku Nnemeka, Pauline Benjamin and Emmanuel Anyanwu.
The list also includes Mercy Ogwu, Zakaria Jibrin Danladan, Jude Njoku, Henry Osa, Iyke Onovo, Eberechukwu Anyiwo, Aisha, ThankGod, Danmarke Ali, Zakariya Jibril, Abdurahman Aliyu, Nnamdi Iwuamadi, Leo Okwudili, Ngozi Ochia, Abdulrahman Imam and Sadiq Sani Dona.
This development comes few days after the dissolution of the previous AMAC executive.
