A 21-year-old man, Abubakar Rabiu, has pleaded guilty to stealing N270,000 and other valuables before an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.

Rabiu appeared alongside his co-defendant, 25-year-old Aisha Umar, who pleaded not guilty to charges bordering on conspiracy, stealing and receiving stolen property.

The prosecutor, ASP Donjour Perezi, told the court that the alleged offences occurred on September 26 at Gengere, Mile 12, Lagos, within the Ikeja Magisterial District.

Perezi alleged that Rabiu stole a bag belonging to Suleiman Jenkimi containing N270,000, two Tecno mobile phones, chewing sticks, balm and other items.

He further alleged that Umar received the N270,000 from Rabiu, knowing that the money was stolen.

The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 287, 328 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Magistrate A.O. Akinde adjourned the case until December 2 for the presentation of facts and sentencing in Rabiu’s case, while Umar’s trial will also commence on the date.
