The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State has reaffirmed Governor Hope Uzodimma as its candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District, dismissing reports circulating on social media suggesting a change in the party’s choice.
In a statement issued on Thursday, October 29, 2026, the party said the reports, allegedly being circulated by opposition figures, were unverified and did not reflect its position on the matter.
The statement, signed by the APC State Publicity Secretary, Onwuasoanya FCC Jones maintained that Uzodimma remains the party’s candidate for the senatorial district, having emerged victorious in the party’s primary election.
According to the party, the governor secured the nomination with the overwhelming support of the majority of APC members who participated in the primaries.
The party, however, disclosed that its legal department would study the outcome of a legal intervention relating to the matter and take appropriate action based on its assessment.
The APC also urged its members and supporters across Imo State to remain calm, focused and committed to the party, warning against distractions arising from the circulating reports.
It called on party faithful to intensify their efforts towards securing victory for the APC across all constituencies in the state.
