The House of Representatives has adopted three motions seeking to address concerns surrounding mobile phone verification procedures, insecurity in Taraba State and the rehabilitation of Kirikiri Federal Road in Lagos State.

The resolutions are aimed at strengthening consumer protection, improving security coordination and addressing infrastructure challenges affecting residents and road users.

On mobile phone verification, the House urged the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to review its device verification regulations and simplify the compliance process.

Lawmakers also called for the introduction of a transparent verification framework for second-hand mobile phones to protect consumers, particularly small-scale businesses and individuals involved in the resale of used devices.

On the security situation in Taraba State, the lawmakers urged relevant security agencies to strengthen intelligence sharing and operational cooperation across Taraba, Plateau and Bauchi States to address recurring attacks and emerging security threats.

The House further called for humanitarian assistance to families and survivors affected by the attacks, while advocating the completion of the abandoned Wase-Karim Lamido Road project to improve access, security operations and emergency response in affected communities.

In another resolution, the lawmakers appealed to the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to complete outstanding rehabilitation works on Kirikiri Federal Road in Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area of Lagos State.

They also urged the agency to inspect sections where rehabilitation had been completed and address any identified defects.

The three motions highlight the legislature’s efforts to respond to pressing national concerns, ranging from consumer rights and public safety to road infrastructure.

The resolutions were highlighted by the House Spokesperson, Rep. Akin Rotimi Jr., who shared details of the legislative interventions.
