Man, 33, arraigned over alleged house breaking, stealing

The police on Monday, charged a 33-year-old man, Abiola Oladimeji, before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, over alleged house breaking and stealing.

Oladimeji, whose address was not provided, is standing trial on a five count-charge bordering on conspiracy, house breaking and stealing.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Insp. Toyin Ibrahim, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on May 27, at about 2.00 a.m, at the Amuloko area of Ibadan.

He alleged that the defendant and others now at large, burgled the house of one Mrs Rukayat Ajibola, and stole her phone, power bank and a bag containing cash sum of N200,000.

He said that the defendant was eventually arrested following police investigation.

The offences contravenes the provisions of sections 390(9), 412 and 516 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Mr Olaolu Olanipekun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

He held that one of the sureties must be a blood relation of the defendant.

The court adjourned the case until Feb. 11, 2026, for hearing. (NAN)
