Adopt Ebonyi model to tackle insecurity, Rep tells Tinubu

By Eze Victor, Abakaliki

The member representing Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency, Pastor Eze Nwachukwu Eze, has called on President Bola Tinubu to adopt the security and development strategy being implemented by Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State to tackle the security challenges confronting the nation.

Speaking with journalists in Abakaliki during activities marking Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary and Ebonyi State’s 29th anniversary, the lawmaker commended President Tinubu for stabilising the economy and governance but stressed that security remains a critical area requiring fresh ideas and inclusive leadership.

Eze noted that Governor Nwifuru has successfully applied what he described as the “Francis Formula for State Security and National Development,” a model that has restored peace and unity across the state.

“I advise Mr. President to come to Ebonyi and work closely with our governor to deploy what I call the Francis Formula for state security and national development.

“That’s what the governor has successfully done here in Ebonyi, and it has brought lasting peace to the state,” Eze said.

The federal lawmaker explained that the Francis Formula is rooted in inclusive governance, human dignity, and stakeholder engagement, emphasizing that peace can only be sustained when citizens feel recognized and respected by government.

“The secret is simple—giving every citizen a sense of belonging and dignity. Once people feel valued, they become protectors of peace and progress. The governor united stakeholders who previously worked at cross-purposes, and that neutralized the root of most crises,” he added.

Eze urged President Tinubu to replicate the model, particularly in regions battling insecurity, by engaging local leaders, traditional rulers, youth groups, and other stakeholders in active participation in governance.

“Crises in many parts of the country are often caused by stakeholders who feel alienated. When you engage them constructively, you eliminate bitterness and create ownership of government policies,” he stated.

The lawmaker described Nigeria’s 65 years of independence and Ebonyi’s 29 years of creation as milestones of resilience and evolving democracy, commending the progress made under past and present administrations.

He expressed optimism that with inclusive and people-centered policies, the Tinubu administration could deepen national unity, economic growth, and internal stability.

“The Ebonyi example should serve as a model for national peacebuilding and development,” Eze maintained.

Since assuming office on May 29, 2023, Governor Nwifuru has implemented an inclusive governance framework that brings together political leaders and community stakeholders.

Nwifuru’s administration has prioritized youth empowerment, workers’ welfare, education, healthcare, and infrastructure renewal across the state, the policies credited for restoring lasting peace and progress in Ebonyi.
