Sokoto State Government has clarified that only one-third of the June salary was deducted from civil servants’ pay.
The state government has paid civil servants, local governments and retirees their monthly entitlements to enable them celebrate Eid El Kabir in good order which he now converted into soft loans.
According to State Accountant General Umar B. Ahmad Tambuwal, each civil servant received their full gross salary without deductions from lending financial institutions. The remaining deductions would be made in the subsequent two months.
This clarification comes after the governor approved the conversion of May 2025 salaries into a soft loan, repayable over three months, to ease post-Eid financial hardship. The governor directed the immediate payment of June 2025 salaries to all state and local government employees, including pensioners, starting June 30.
