365Daily – The Edo State House of Assembly has impeached the embattled Deputy Governor of the State, Comrade Philip Shaibu.
The impeachment, which happened on Monday, April 8, 2024, followed the adoption of the report of the seven-man investigative panel set up by the Assembly to probe allegations of misconduct against Shaibu.
This is the latest in the power tussle between Shaibu and the Governor of the State, Godwin Obaseki. The duo fell out after the former insisted on running in the November 2024 governorship election in the state in defiance of the latter’s directive that he should support Asuen Ighodolo, his preferred successor.
