Peter Obi has called for the immediate release of Rilwan Olawale, expressing concern over what he described as the continued intimidation and harassment of his supporters across the country.

In a statement, Obi said the situation was disturbing and unacceptable, accusing President Bola Tinubu of benefiting from Nigeria’s democracy while allegedly contributing to actions that undermine it through violence.

Obi maintained that his campaign remained peaceful and focused on providing Nigerians with a credible alternative built on competence, accountability, justice and compassion.

He stressed that his political movement had chosen dialogue over violence and persuasion over intimidation, warning that his commitment to peaceful engagement should not be mistaken for weakness or fear.

The former Anambra State governor added that he would not be intimidated into silence or abandon Nigerians who believe in the possibility of building a better country.

Obi called for transparency regarding Olawale’s arrest, his release, respect for his rights and an end to what he described as politically motivated harassment.

He further stated that no government or political party had the right to deny Nigerians the freedom to support their preferred candidate.

Reaffirming his commitment to peaceful engagement, Obi said he would continue to stand firmly and lawfully against attempts to undermine Nigerian’s democratic rights.

He concluded by reiterating his belief that a new Nigeria is possible and will be okay.
