365Daily – The Senate has corrected errors in the 2025 budget and will transmit the revised version to President Bola Tinubu for immediate assent, Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced during Tuesday’s plenary.
The corrections, which affected line items under capital and recurrent expenditures, were made after the Senate rescinded its earlier decision on the N54.9 trillion budget passed last week.
However, the total budget remains N54.9 trillion, with recurrent spending increasing to N13.588 trillion and capital spending reducing to N23.439 trillion.
Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman, Senator Adeola Olamilekan, said the errors were discovered during the “cleaning and re-alignment” process with the House of Representatives.
On his part, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin commended the corrections before presidential assent, noting it prevented the need for a formal amendment later.
The adjustments affected several ministries, departments, and agencies, including the Ministries of Defence, Police Affairs, Education, Health, and Works, as well as pension bodies and security agencies.
