Ahead of London trip, Buhari orders service chiefs to apprehend bandits, kidnappers and sponsors

365Daily – President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered service chiefs to fish out sponsors of banditry and kidnapping and bring them to book.

The National Security Adviser, Major-General Babagana Monguno (retd.), on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, told State House correspondents that Buhari gave the order at a meeting he held with the service chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

According to Munguno, the President expressed disapproval over the present situation where the armed forces are more reactionary than proactive, saying it will no longer be tolerated.

Present at the meeting was the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor; Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Ibrahim Attahiru; Chief of Naval Staff; Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu; and Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Isiaka Amoo.

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo; National Security Adviser to the President, Maj.-Gen Babagana Monguno (retd.); the Chief of Staff to the President, Ibrahim Gambari; amongst others, were also at the meeting.

Buhari met the service chiefs ahead of his trip to London for a 2-week routine medical check-up.

He is due back in the country during the second week of April, 2021, according to presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina.

Buhari is embarking on the medical trip at a time members of the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors have declared their intention to commence a strike on April 1.
