365Daily -The campaign organisation of Peter Obi, a prominent presidential aspirant in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has alleged a plot to undermine the political base of the former Anambra State Governor, by some individuals within the party’s leadership in Abuja.
The organisation made this claim through its Director-General, Dr. Doyin Okupe.
Okupe alleged in a statement issued on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, that the party doesn’t accord Obi, who was the Vice Presidential candidate of the party in 2019, the respect due to him as the leader of the PDP in Anambra State.
According to him, some people in the national secretariat are colluding with some interests in Anambra State chapter of the party to work against Obi’s aspiration in the coming PDP primary election.
Okupe said: “It is a matter of great regret that despite HE Peter Obi’s gentlemanly civil disposition and unwavering commitment to PDP as a party, some officials in the national secretariat of the party do not accord him the respect due to him as the leader of the party in Anambra state.
“Recently, free and fair national delegates elections were conducted in the state and the results verified by INEC officials. Surprisingly, some people within the state are trying to collude with certain elements within the national secretariat to manipulate these results in order to undermine the political base of Peter Obi in Anambra.”
Okupe appealed to the leaders of the party to intervene and ensure that “things are done properly and rightly and in accordance with our party’s constitution.”
