Bauchi State Governor, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Governor of the old Gongola State and former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bamanga Tukur.
Governor Mohammed, who spoke on behalf of his family, the Bauchi State Government and the people of the state, described the late elder statesman as a distinguished public servant and political leader whose contributions to Nigeria’s development and democratic governance would remain indelible.
In a condolence message, the governor said Tukur dedicated a significant part of his life to serving the people and the nation, providing leadership, guidance and counsel at critical moments in Nigeria’s political history.
He noted that the late politician’s wealth of experience, wisdom, humility and commitment to public service earned him respect across political divides.
Governor Mohammed particularly extended his condolences to the immediate family of the deceased, his associates and political colleagues, as well as the Adamawa State Government and the people of Adamawa State over the loss.
“The death of Alhaji Bamanga Tukur is a great loss not only to his immediate family but also to the people of Adamawa State and Nigeria as a whole.
“He was a statesman of considerable experience and wisdom, whose contributions to public service and democratic politics will continue to be remembered,” the governor said.
Mohammed added that his family, the Bauchi State Government and the people of Bauchi State shared in the grief of Tukur’s family at the difficult moment.
“At this difficult moment, my family and I, as well as the Government and good people of Bauchi State, extend our heartfelt condolences to his family.
“We pray that Almighty Allah will forgive his shortcomings, reward his good deeds and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
“We also pray that Allah will grant his loved ones and all those mourning this great loss the strength and fortitude to bear the loss,” he added.
The governor urged the bereaved family to take solace in the remarkable legacy of service left behind by the former PDP national chairman.
He also prayed for the peaceful repose of Bamanga Tukur’s soul and for comfort and strength for his family, associates and all Nigerians mourning his death.
