Vice President Kashim Shettima on Wednesday commissioned two major projects in Ilorin, Kwara State, as part of activities surrounding the turbaning of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as the Sardauna of Ilorin.
The projects are the Kwara State Garment Factory and the 11-storey Kwara Revenue Service (KWRS) House.
The garment factory, a flagship project of the AbdulRazaq administration, is designed to create at least 4,000 direct jobs when it reaches full production capacity. Reports indicate that more than 500 workers have already been recruited and trained for the initial phase of operations.
The 11-storey KWRS House serves as the headquarters of the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service and provides administrative offices for the agency.
The commissioning of the two facilities formed part of activities marking the conferment of the traditional title of Sardauna of Ilorin on Governor AbdulRazaq by the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari.
Shettima arrived in Ilorin to represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the turbaning ceremony held at the Emir’s Palace.
During the ceremony, AbdulRazaq was formally turbaned as the Sardauna of Ilorin, a title associated with the defence of the Ilorin Emirate. Reports identified him as the first person to hold the title.
The Vice President also commended the AbdulRazaq administration for its investments in infrastructure and other sectors, including education, healthcare and road development.

The commissioning ceremonies preceded the traditional turbaning at the Emir’s Palace, bringing together government officials, state governors, ministers, traditional rulers and other dignitaries.
The projects, particularly the garment factory, are part of Kwara State’s ongoing efforts to expand industrial activity and employment opportunities, while the Revenue House is expected to provide a permanent administrative base for the state’s revenue service.
