365Daily- The Statistician-general of the Federation, Simon Harry, is dead.
He died on Wednesday morning, April 13, 2022, in Abuja.
365Daily recalls that a rumour of his death was widely circulated over the weekend till the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) debunked it.
Barely 7 months ago, Harry was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari to replace Yemi Kale to head the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
The Cable reported that Sunday Ichedi, head of Communication and Public Relations Department of the NBS, confirmed that the NBS chief died Wednesday morning.
The deceased started his career at the Federal Office of Statistics in 1992 as Statistician 11 and rose to the position of Director of Statistics in 2019.
Before his appointment as head of NBS, the he was the Director of Corporate Planning and Technical Coordination, Department of the NBS — with almost three decades of statistical experience.
