365Daily – Renowned legal practitioner, Dr. Kayode Ajulo, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to extend the same warm welcome to agitators across the country as he did to ex-Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, who recently joined the ruling party.
Fani-Kayode dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC) amidst much fanfare and a reception by the President at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
In a statement issued on Thursday, September 23, 2021, Ajulo described Fani – Kayode (FFK)’s admission into the APC as a ‘symbolic presidential amnesty’, considering his past attacks on President Muhammadu Buhari.
He notes that the ex-Minister’s past attacks on President Buhari and the APC must have influenced passions in some quarters, for armed and unarmed agitations against the President and the Nigerian state.
Therefore, he posited that amnesty in this context “means forgiveness, cessation of remembrance of wrong, leniency and mercy” to his allies.
“The symbolism by the President signposts the fact that the vilest of ‘sinner’ in his lucid moment of thorough reflections, can be granted safe passage toward the “mercy seat,” he said.
Ajulo pointed out that some of the agitations by secessionists had not gone without the open endorsement and support of FFK, while advising him to totally divest himself of his divisive un-nationalistic past.
