365Daily – The Chairman of the Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Amb. Desmond Akawor, has said Nigerians should be proud of the former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, for his consistency in seeking for ways to better Nigeria.
The ex-governor is vying for the party’s ticket to contest inthe 2023 presidential election.
Speaking when Obi visited Rivers State to seek support for his ambition, Akawor noted his undying passion to build a better Nigeria, while describing him as one who truly understands Nigeria’s economy.
He said: “Undoubtedly, Obi is interested in the development of the country. He does not just preach about how things should be done rightly, but he shows you his track record of success in governance and tells you how he did it rightly, with verifiable evidences.
“Under him, Anambra enjoyed the best road infrastructure, while developing in all fronts. He left behind no debt and even kept a savings of N75 billion for the state, a record yet unbroken in the country. We are very proud to associate with a man like him.”
While appreciating Obi for identifying some of the challenges of Rivers State on his own, he regretted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) government has continued to pay deaf ears to their pains.
In his address, the former vice presidential candidate of the party in the 2019 election commended the Governor of the state, Mr. Nyesom Wike, who he described as his brother and friend, for providing infrastructural development in the state.
He assured the delegates, and Nigerians in general, that, if given the chance, he would turn the nation into a highly productive nation, where youths will be productively engaged and hard work rewarded.
