NELFUND ensures that more students from the South-East have access to quality education and government programmes should be embraced

The Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Community Engagement (South-East), Mrs. Chioma Nweze, has called on residents of the South-East to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, citing ongoing infrastructure development across the region.
Nweze made the appeal on Sunday after inspecting ongoing federal road projects with the Minister of Works, Sen. David Umahi.
She said the scale of road construction and rehabilitation being undertaken by the Federal Government had significantly improved connectivity and living conditions in the South-East, describing the projects as unprecedented.
According to her, the Tinubu administration has demonstrated a strong commitment to the region through sustained investment in critical infrastructure.
“This is unprecedented in the annals of the country, as the President has demonstrated unbridled love and affection for the people of the zone,” she said.
Nweze argued that the level of development recorded under the current administration justified overwhelming support for the President in the 2027 general election.
“President Tinubu, therefore, deserves to be voted for massively by the region in appreciation and to sustain this unrivalled development,” she added.
The presidential aide highlighted the ongoing superhighway project traversing several states, including Ebonyi, describing it as a major infrastructure initiative that would enhance economic growth, improve transportation and strengthen regional connectivity.
She said the project would facilitate trade and promote easier movement of people and goods across different parts of the country.
“This is democracy delivering its dividends in their entirety, and the South-East cannot wish for a better leader at the helm,” she said.
Nweze also praised the President for the ongoing reconstruction of the Ndibe Bridge and other strategic federal highways across the region.
“The President should also be commended for the monumental work on the Ndibe Bridge and other strategic road projects,” she stated.
She urged students in the South-East to take advantage of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), saying the initiative was expanding access to higher education by easing financial challenges faced by students.
“NELFUND ensures that more students from the South-East have access to quality education and government programmes should be embraced,” she said.
Nweze further commended the Minister of Works, Sen. David Umahi, for closely monitoring federal road projects and ensuring their timely execution.
“You are greatly repaying the confidence reposed in you by the President when he entrusted this responsibility to you,” she said.
Reflecting on the past condition of the Afikpo-Okigwe Federal Highway, Nweze recalled that motorists often feared travelling on the road because of its poor state and security challenges.
“I remember we prayed fervently whenever family members travelled that road because of its deplorable condition and vulnerability,” she recalled.
She said the situation had improved considerably following the reconstruction efforts led by the Minister of Works.
“The story has changed today, as you have deployed your engineering ingenuity to make travel on the road seamless,” she added.
