The Tinubu Media Support Group, TMSG, has rejected allegations that President Bola Tinubu’s administration has neglected Northern Nigeria in the allocation of infrastructure projects and development initiatives.

The group said the region has recorded significant investments under the present administration, ranging from major road and rail projects to gas infrastructure, healthcare and urban transportation.

In a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Emeka Nwankpa, and Secretary, Dapo Okubanjo, TMSG said the administration had maintained several projects inherited from former President Muhammadu Buhari while also introducing new projects across the northern states.

According to the group, one of the major projects receiving attention is the 614-kilometre Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano, AKK, gas pipeline, valued at 2.8 billion dollars.

TMSG said the project had reached about 95 per cent completion as of August 2026, following the removal of bottlenecks that had slowed its progress.

It noted that the pipeline is expected to provide gas to industrial clusters across Northern Nigeria and stimulate economic activities along the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano corridor.

The group also pointed to the Kaduna-Kano railway and the Kano-Maradi railway as evidence of the administration’s commitment to improving transportation links across the North.

It said the Kaduna-Kano line is scheduled for completion in December 2026, while the Kano-Daura-Katsina section of the Kano-Maradi railway is expected to be commissioned within the same month.

TMSG added that the federal government had pledged to complete the remaining section of the railway to Maradi in Niger Republic by 2027.

On road infrastructure, the group identified the 1,068-kilometre Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway as one of the administration’s major legacy projects.

It said the highway, which cuts across Sokoto, Kebbi, Niger, Kwara, Oyo and Lagos states, is intended to create a major economic corridor linking the North-West with the South-West.

The group also listed the ongoing reconstruction of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano dual carriageway and the Akwanga-Jos-Bauchi-Gombe road among projects receiving federal government attention.

In the health sector, TMSG said the administration had embarked on upgrades and expansions at major healthcare facilities, including the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital in Zaria, as well as more than 1,000 primary healthcare centres across the North.

It further disclosed that President Tinubu had approved more than two trillion naira for intra-city light rail projects in Kano and Kaduna.

TMSG also cited the North East Development Commission, NEDC, which it said is implementing projects valued at more than 1.5 trillion naira across the region.

The group therefore urged Northerners to disregard claims that the Tinubu administration had abandoned the region.

It maintained that available evidence shows that significant investments are being made across Northern Nigeria, describing contrary claims as politically motivated attempts to mislead the public and distort the administration’s development record.
