365Daily – Amidst calls for the arraignment or release of Kaduna State’s former governor, Nasir El-Rufai, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) will on Tuesday arraign the accused before two separate courts.
El-Rufai is to be arraigned for money laundering, conversion and possession of public property, abuse of office, fraud, intent to commit fraud, and conferring undue advantage.
In a statement by its spokesperson, Okor Odey, on Monday, the anti-graft body said, “The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) is set to arraign the former Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufa’i (M) and one Joel Adoga (M) at the Federal High Court of Nigeria in the Kaduna Judicial Division on Tuesday, the 24th March 2026.
“The suit with number FHC/KD/73/2026 has charges ranging from conversion of and possession of public property to money laundering,”
He added that the former governor would later be arraigned before the Kaduna State High Court on charges ranging from abuse of office, fraud, intent to commit fraud, and conferring undue advantage, among others.
“Similarly, another charge, number KDH/KAD/ICPC/01/26, against Malam Nasir El-Rufa’i and one Amadu Sule (LEDA), has also been filed before a Kaduna State High Court in the Kaduna Judicial Division. The charges in the State High Court case range from abuse of office, fraud, and intent to commit fraud to conferring undue advantage, among others,” the ICPC spokesperson said.
Odey, who disclosed that the former governor had been duly served with the suits, further noted that they were filed by the ICPC on March 18, 2026.
“The ICPC wishes to inform the public that Mallam Nasir El-Rufa’i has been duly served. The ICPC restates its commitment to adhering fully to due process and the rule of law at all times,” Mr Odey said.
The former governor was arrested by the anti-corruption commission and has been in detention since he was released by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, which had detained him for 48 hours from February 16 to 18, 2026.
