365Daily – President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, as he marks 20 years since ascending the throne.
In a congratulatory message, President Tinubu joined Nigerians and well wishers across the world in celebrating the monarch’s two decades of leadership as the 20th Sultan of Sokoto.
The President acknowledged the Sultan’s contributions to preserving the legacy of the Sokoto Caliphate, noting that his reign has strengthened the traditional institution’s role in promoting peace, national unity and development.
Tinubu praised the monarch’s wisdom, commitment to national cohesion and ability to promote understanding during challenging periods. He described him as a respected voice of moderation, a bridge builder across religious divides and a source of guidance to leaders.
The President also highlighted the Sultan’s contributions as President General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and Co Chairman of the Nigeria Inter Religious Council, particularly his efforts towards strengthening relations between Christians and Muslims.
He further recognised the monarch’s advocacy for peace in Northern Nigeria and the Sahel region, as well as his commitment to education, especially for the girl child, agriculture, public health and support for vulnerable members of society.
President Tinubu expressed appreciation for the Sultan’s friendship, counsel and continued support for the country, describing his contributions as valuable to Nigeria’s progress.
He prayed for Allah’s continued blessings upon the monarch, wishing him good health, longevity and greater wisdom to sustain his contributions to Sokoto State, Nigeria and the Muslim community.
The President concluded by congratulating the Sultan on the milestone and expressing hope that his reign would continue to advance peace and unity across the country.
