Sokoto State Governor, Dr. Ahmed Aliyu recently celebrated two years in office with a friendly football tournament.
The match ended with his team winning with a score of 1-0 against the Deputy Governor’s team.
The event, held at the Giginya Memorial Stadium, featured Hon. Bashar Umar Kwabo and other leaders, promoting unity and sports development in the state.
The winning team received ₦1 million, while the runners-up got ₦700,000, and the third-place team took home ₦500,000.
Dr. Aliyu emphasized the role of sports in uniting communities, empowering young people, and promoting social cohesion.
This event aligns with the state’s efforts to promote peacebuilding, community engagement, and talent development, reflecting Governor Aliyu’s administration’s focus on.
It is also by supporting young talents and promoting healthy competition.
The governor further said it also to foster unity and social cohesion through sports and similarly identifying and nurturing athletic talents in the state.
