Two committees, steering and technical, charged with the responsibility of designing a 10- year developmental plan in line with the Benue State governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia’s blueprint tagged; Strategic Development Plan has been inaugurated in Benue State.
Performing the inauguration on Wednesday in Makurdi, Alia, represented by his Deputy Sam Ode said the 10-year action plan to take effect next year to 2035, would address the most critical needs of the people as well as their challenges and threats.
The governor also revealed that the steering committee is to provide oversight and to ensure that the development plan is in line with his administration’s goals and aspirations while the plan remains focused in setting up priorities and mobilizing resources as well as securing necessary support from stakeholders.
Governor Alia equally disclosed that the technical committee would conduct a thorough analysis and provide detail insight of a plan work similar with all sectors to ensure inclusiveness and comprehension.
The cleric governor also explained that the 10-year plan would prioritize security of lives and property, agriculture, rural development, capacity and social development, infrastructure, environment as well as information communication technology among others.
In a remark, representative of UNICEF Sabastian Akogowale assured that the organization would continue to collaborate with the Benue State Government to ensure improvement of the living standard of people especially children and the vulnerable and promised that the organization would support the two committees to effectively carry out their assignment.
Responding on behalf of other members, commissioner for education and knowledge management, Fredrick Ikyaan, expressed appreciation to the Governor for finding them worthy for the assignment and promised that the committees would do a thorough job to achieve set goals.
