Northern leaders call for Aregbesola’s sack, accuse him of working against Tinubu

The minister of interior, Rauf Aregbesola, has been leading the campaign against Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the South West. The party lost the governorship election in Osun state due to anti-party activities spearheaded by the former governor of Osun state

A group of prominent Northerners sympathetic to the presidential ambition of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the All Progressive Congress (APC), candidate has called out Yoruba leaders and political allies for their alleged sabotage and consistent criticism of the former governor of Lagos state.

Rising from its meeting in Abuja on Thursday, the group under the auspices of North East and North West elders for Tinubu, in a communique stated that “Some Yoruba leaders and former allies of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, have been identified as the major stumbling block to the realization of his presidential ambition.”

In the communique read by Dr. Haruna Garus Gololo, an APC chieftain and a staunch supporter of Tinubu and Shettima presidency specifically accused the minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, of leading the campaign against Tinubu.

“The minister of interior, Rauf Aregbesola, has been leading the campaign against Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the South West. The party lost the governorship election in Osun state due to anti-party activities spearheaded by the former governor of Osun state.

“He was quoted in one of his meeting, while addressing APC stakeholders in Ijesha that they pray that God should bring down Tinubu.

“This statement credited to the minister of Interior was enough to expel him from APC. This was a man who is not from Lagos state, through Tinubu’s benevolence he was appointed Commissioner and later Governor of Osun state.”

The group further urge the party leadership to stripe the Interior minister of his portfolio and expel him from the APC.

“We are waiting for the outcome of the N700 million he allegedly collected to monitor the Edo and Ondo elections.

“The minister allegedly collected the money for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for the elections but findings by the senate committee on Public Account has since revealed that it was a fraud.

“How can a man of Aregbesola’s status with baggage on his head call Tinubu names?”
