The Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room (Situation Room) has stated cause of death of their convener, Barrister Esther Uzoma who died on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, saying she died following a surgery performed on her in an Abuja hospital.
This was contained in a press statement issued by the organization on Thursday, January 7, 2021 in Abuja by co-conveners of the group; Asma’u Joda and Celestine Okwudili Odo, which was made available to 365Daily.
The statement reads: “The Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room (Situation Room), announces with deep shock the demise of its Convener who is also National Coordinator of Proactive Gender Initiative, Barr. Esther Uzoma.
“Esther Uzoma died on Wednesday, 6th January 2021 following a surgery at a hospital in Abuja.
“Esther was very energetic and a committed human rights and gender activist and has been in the forefront of driving Nigeria’s democratic reforms.
“She will be sorely missed by all who came in contact with her.
“The family will make further announcements on burial arrangements”.
The Situation Room is made up of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) working in support of credible and transparent elections in Nigeria numbering more than 70.
