Nigeria’s foremost construction company, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, has received multiple awards for excellent performance across all sectors of its business operations in Nigeria.
Among the awards is the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) award for been the “Best in Training Contribution for 2020”.
The construction company said the ITF stood out because development, training and innovation of its employees are among its core objectives as staff welfare remains one of its. high priority.
The regulatory Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON) also honoured Julius Berger with its “Distinguished Production Quality” 2020 award.
Besides that, Julius Berger was also honoured by the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital with tbe “Distinguished Corporate Social Responsibility Award” for its contributions to the hospital’s development.
Julius Berger, following the outbreak of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic, has assisted the Hospital with an ambulance, as well as large quantities of hospital beds and other safety necessaries.
The award was given to the company at the UATH 2020 Awards Day which held at the premises of the Hospital in Gwagwalada, Abuja.
The hospital said the award was its way of appreciating their front line healthcare workers in different facilities who have worked selflessly and dedicated their time since the Covid-19 lockdown, and also to appreciate their sponsors who supported them during the period.
In his speech, the Chief Medical Director, UATH, Prof. Bissalla Ekele, said when the FCT recorded her first case of COVID-19 after the index case in Lagos, the first case was admitted at UATH (the first and only Hospital then in FCT with the capacity to manage COVID-19).
Prof. Bissalla said that they had managed 313 cases of COVID-19, saying, “To the Glory of God, we have discharged 294 cases (92%) with 19 fatalities. The 80-man frontline health workers that have been working at the Treatment and Isolation Centre for more than nine months deserve our applause. And to the glory of God, they are all in good health.”
