Family and friends of the late popular sound engineer, Osy Denobis, will gather on November 12 to pay their last respects at a service of song in his honour in Lagos.
He died two weeks ago after a brief illness.
Close friends of the renowned sound engineer who made his name as the man behind the works of the legendary late Lady of songs, Christy Essien-Igbokwe, said perhaps the only person that would be compared to him in terms of sound engineering in Nigeria was Decca’s Lak Adeniran, also of blessed memory.
While Adeniran worked mostly with the iconic yoruba maestro, Chief Ebenezer Fabiyi-Obey, Osy was, until his exit from the life stage, the engineer behind Femi Anikulapo-Kuti’s numerous performances within and outside the New African Shrine.
Popularly known as “Engr Osy Denobis, the gentle giant”, many of his friends and associates such as Gideon Nwaomu, Felady, among others, will give him a star-like burial beginning with a Service of Songs at his residence, at Number 19, Somoye Street, Omotoye Estate, Orile Agege, Lagos State.
