Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has called on Nigerians to sustain their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration as the country moves towards the 2027 general elections.

Governor Yusuf made the call on Saturday, October 3, 2026, during the annual Kadiriyya Maukibi held in Kano, which attracted Islamic scholars, politicians and other dignitaries from across the country.

The governor said the gathering provided an opportunity to promote unity, peaceful coexistence and support for the leadership of President Tinubu.

He urged Nigerians to remain committed to the stability and development of the country, while encouraging continued support for the administration ahead of the 2027 elections.

A major highlight of the event was the unveiling and commissioning of a newly constructed Maukibi platform provided by the Kano State Government.

The facility was commissioned on behalf of President Tinubu by Hon. Ibrahim Kabir Masari, who represented the President at the ceremony.

The gathering also attracted former Zamfara State Governor, Abdul’aziz Yari, and former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.

Yari and Tambuwal, who serve as Directors-General of the APC and ADC Presidential Campaign Councils respectively, addressed participants at the event.

Religious leaders, political figures and thousands of members and followers of the Qadiriyya order also attended the annual gathering.

The Kadiriyya Maukibi featured religious activities and provided a platform for discussions on national unity, peaceful coexistence and political leadership.

Governor Yusuf’s call comes as political activities gradually intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, with political actors and groups beginning to mobilise support and articulate their positions on the country’s political future.

The event also underscored the role of religious and traditional gatherings in promoting dialogue and fostering relationships among political, religious and community leaders.

The governor’s message was contained in a statement signed by Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Director-General, Media and Publicity, Government House, Kano.
