365Daily – The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba, has ordered the sealing of all 17 local government council secretariats in Plateau State.
The directive was contained in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Alfred Alabo, on Thursday.
He said the action is to avoid a breakdown of order in the local government councils following the suspension of elected chairmen and councillors by the state government.
The suspension of the local councils leadership elected during former Governor Simon Lalong’s administration and replacement with transition management committee chairmen by Governor Caleb Muftwang was greeted with widespread rejection.
As a means of maintaining law and order in the state, Police Commissioner, Bartholomew Onyeka has been directed to seal up all the local government council secretariats.
