365Daily – Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has accused the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Iyorchia Ayu, of being corrupt, alleging that the national chairman collected a bribe of one billion naira from some certain politicians in Lagos, which was never remitted to the party’s coffers.
Wike made this allegation on Friday during a media parley with representatives of some national televisions.
Though Wike refused to name the people who gave Ayu the money, but dared him to refute the allegation, then he (Wike) would open up other cans of worms.
Wike added that the presidential candidate of the party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar told five governors; Ahmadu Fintiri, Samuel Ortom, Seyi Makinde, Okezie Ikpeazu and he (Wike) in a meeting that Ayu must go.
On perceived betrayer by Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto who surrendered for Atiku, leading to Atiku’s victory in the PDP primary election, Wike said he would not continue to think about that because there was no agreement between himself and Tambuwal.
Wike insisted that for peace to return to PDP, the national chairman and the presidential candidate must come from different zones.
Governor Wike wondered how APC with fewer governors from the south could come out and endorse a southern candidate, but PDP with more southern governors vehemently refused to zone to the south.
