Abductors have reportedly demanded a total ransom of ₦950 million for 19 prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members who were allegedly kidnapped while travelling from Ibadan to their orientation camps.
The prospective corps members were said to have been on their way to their respective orientation camps for the mandatory NYSC orientation exercise when they were reportedly abducted.
According to reports, the kidnappers are demanding ₦50 million for the release of each of the 19 victims, bringing the total ransom demand to ₦950 million.
The reported abduction has triggered anxiety among the victims’ families and heightened concerns over the safety of prospective corps members travelling to orientation camps across the country.
Families of the abducted youths are said to be awaiting developments as efforts are reportedly underway to secure their safe release.
The incident has also renewed concerns about security along major routes used by prospective corps members during the NYSC mobilisation and orientation period.
Authorities are expected to intensify efforts to locate the victims and secure their safe return as families continue to appeal for urgent intervention.
