The lawmaker representing Degema/Bonny Federal Constituency, Hon. Cyril Hart, has continued his intervention programmes aimed at empowering constituents, strengthening small businesses and improving the welfare of residents across the two local government areas.
Hart, through his team, recently carried out the third phase of the empowerment initiative, distributing business equipment and essential household items to beneficiaries in Degema and Bonny Local Government Areas.
The intervention is designed to provide residents with practical tools that can help them expand existing businesses, establish new enterprises and improve their sources of income.
Items distributed during the exercise included 40 industrial sewing machines, 40 industrial weaving machines, six industrial hemming machines, 40 popcorn-making machines and six ice cream-making machines.
Other beneficiaries received 10 sets of buffet stands for catering businesses, 32 grilling machines for shawarma and related businesses, 40 welding machines, 40 hair dryers for salon operators, 40 laundry machines and 40 deep freezers.
The empowerment package also featured 40 tile machines for artisan tilers, 10 grass-cutting machines and 30 grinding machines, providing support to constituents engaged in various skilled trades and small-scale enterprises.
Beyond business equipment, the lawmaker also provided welfare items, including **100 blood pressure monitoring machines for elderly constituents and 1,500 bags of 25kg rice** to support households within the constituency.
Hart expressed satisfaction with the response from beneficiaries, saying he was encouraged by their appreciation of the initiative and its potential impact on their livelihoods.
According to him, the intervention reflects his commitment to adopting a modest but practical approach to constituency representation by providing support that directly addresses the economic and welfare needs of the people.
He noted that empowering constituents with productive tools would not only help individuals improve their businesses but could also contribute to employment creation and greater economic activity within Degema and Bonny.
The lawmaker said the initiative was part of his broader efforts to remain connected with his constituents and contribute meaningfully to improving their quality of life.
The latest distribution is expected to assist beneficiaries across different sectors, including tailoring, weaving, catering, welding, hairdressing, laundry, refrigeration, tiling and other artisanal businesses.
With the third phase of the intervention completed, constituents in Degema and Bonny are expected to put the equipment and materials to productive use in strengthening their businesses and improving household livelihoods.
