Gov Alia condemns assassination of health rights advocate, pledges justice

The Governor directed all security agencies in the state to hunt down and apprehend the perpetrators as well as anyone connected to the heinous act, to ensure that swift justice is served

Benue State Governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, has strongly condemned the assassination of prominent health rights advocate, Chris Terfa, who was brutally murdered Friday evening at his office complex located along Nyesom Wike Road in Makurdi.

Governor Alia made the condemnation when he visited family of the deceased, weekend, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, expressed deep sorrow over the loss, extending his condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased.

Terfa, a leading figure in Nigeria’s development sector, also served as the National Chairperson of the National Key Population Health and Rights Network, NKPHRN, and Executive Director of Concerned Youth for Development Initiative, CYDI.

The governor in the statement equally expressed satisfaction with the deceased tireless efforts in advocating for vulnerable populations participants in the fight against people living with HIV/AIDS.

Governor Alia commended the prompt actions of the Divisional Police Officer, DPO of E Division, Bar Daniel Ezeala, and his team, as they work to uncover further details and identify the culprits with a suspect already cooperating in custody.
