The IGP said the NPF is waiting for the court to make a ruling on the Rivers local government chairmanship tenure.

365Daily – The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has disclosed that officers of the Force will vacate Rivers State local government secretariats after the court clears the controversy surrounding the tenure of local government council chairmen in the State.
He made this disclosure at a meeting held with senior police officers in Abuja on Thursday, June 20, 2024.
The IGP explained that the presence of policemen at the local government secretariats, saying it was not aimed at intimidating anyone, but to ensure peace and order.
Egbetokun further said the continuation of the police barricade on the secretariats to prevent a breakdown of law and order.
Speaking on the controversy over the recruitment of constables and allegations by the Police Service Commission (PSC) against him, the IGP insisted that the Nigeria Police Force is a specialised institution that is not meant for all Nigerians.
He added that the Force will resist the recruitment of questionable and untrainable persons into the Police Force.
