The National Assembly has postponed the resumption of plenary from Tuesday, September 15, to Tuesday, September 29, 2026, to allow for the completion of ongoing rehabilitation work in the two chambers.
The announcement was contained in a notice issued to distinguished senators and honourable members of the House of Representatives.
According to the notice, the adjustment in the resumption date was necessary to enable contractors to complete rehabilitation works currently being carried out in both the Senate and House of Representatives chambers.
The lawmakers were advised to take note of the new date and adjust their schedules and engagements accordingly.
The announcement was signed by the Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana, Esq.
The postponement means that lawmakers will now resume legislative activities two weeks later than the previously scheduled September 15 date.
The rehabilitation of the chambers is expected to ensure that the facilities are adequately prepared for the continuation of legislative business when lawmakers return from the recess.
