Despite mounting insecurity in Anambra State, Governor Willie Obiano again failed to attend the South East security meeting held in Enugu on Tuesday.
Anambra is the only state without official representatives in the meeting.
Anambra today is the most insecure state in South East, yet Governor Obiano and his party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) continues to dodge regional summit/meeting on how to address the insecurity in the South East.
States in the meeting:
1. Abia State deputy governor represented his state.
2. Ebonyi State governor was there live.
3. Enugu State governor, as host, was in attendance.
4. Imo State governor was at the meeting.
5. Anambra State Governor, Obiano, was nowhere near Enugu, venue of the meeting. He did not also have the courtesy to send anyone. Anambra’s seat at the meeting remained vacant throughout the duration of the meeting.
Insecurity! When a governor fails to do what he should do, citizens would be right to call him out!
Ndi APGA una de watch am so abi na APC again?
When Governor Obiano FAILED to attend the Southern Governors Forum meeting on security at Enugu on 16th September, 2021, his party, APGA could not condemn that.
The Nigerian Southern Governors’ Forum at its meeting on Thursday, 16th September 2021, held in the Government House, Enugu, Enugu State reviewed the state of the nation and the progress of implementation of the decisions reached in her previous meetings which Obiano did not attend and further resolved as follows:
1. Expressed satisfaction with the rate at which the States in the Southern Nigeria are enacting or amending the Anti-Open Grazing Laws which align with the uniform template and aspiration of Southern Governors and encouraged the States that are yet to enact this law to do so expeditiously.
Note: APGA and Obiano are not supporting anti-grazing law and yet to sign it.
2. Encouraged the full operationalisation of already agreed regional security outfits; which would meet, share intelligence and collaborate, to ensure the security and safety of the region.
Note: Governor Obiano is not participating in meetings on this and not implementing any such security plans etc.
3. Reaffirmed its earlier commitment to fiscal federalism as resolved at the inaugural meeting of the Forum held on Tuesday, 11th May 2021 at Asaba, Delta State and emphasised the need for the Southern States to leverage the legislative competence of their respective State Houses of Assembly as well as representation in the National assembly to pursue its inclusion in the Nigerian Constitution through the ongoing constitutional amendment.
Note: Gov Obiano and APGA are not implementing this.
The question is, why is Anambra State under the APGA government the only state that did not attend or send representatives of all the 17 States in the entire Southern Nigeria?
This is the question we are not asking Obiano and the self-acclaimed Igbo party, APGA. They won’t do little that is within their power, but will be busy dishing out propaganda and blame.
APGA government did not attend most regional meetings especially as they concern security. There was another regional meeting on security in Enugu on Tuesday, Obiano and APGA did not attend!
Anambra Insecurity: Is there anything Obiano-led APGA government is not telling us?
Why is Soludo caring only about his election?
(1) Why is Governor Obiano avoiding anywhere issue of how to address insecurity in Anambra State will be discussed?
(2) Why is Governor Obiano always avoiding Southern Governors regional security meetings where governors share and benefit from various states’ security experiences on how to tackle their state insecurity?
(3) Today, it is as if all the insecurity issues in the entire 17 Southern States in Nigeria have shifted to Anambra State, yet Governor Obiano and his team refused to stand up!
(4) The truth is that I expected the APGA leadership to advise the governor on this security, but they are all busy playing politics!
(5) I also expected Prof Soludo, the APGA candidate who is also Governor Obiano’s political appointee, to make valid suggestions to the APGA governor on this security issue, but he is also busy playing politics.
(6) Today, Governor Obiano and his APGA govt have refused to sign any grazing law, yet the APGA candidate Soludo has said nothing on this!
(7) They will tell you that APC will allow open grazing, but the record shows that most APC states have signed anti grazing law, but the APGA State has refused to sign it and Soludo and Obiano have lost their voices.
(8) For example, Dr. Chike Akunyili, Dora Akunyili’s husband, was murdered in the evening, but Soludo and his APGA team ignored the statewide mourning and were in the same Onitsha dancing the next morning campaigning for governor. It was a day almost all the candidates suspended their campaign to respect the great son of the state. Meanwhile, Dora Akunyili is the aunt to Soludo’s wife. What desperation! Where is our humanity?
(9) Following the South East Security meeting which Obiano ignored, let’s call him and Soludo out! Let’s inform them that the security of Ndi Anambra is more important than their politics and election!
(10) Meanwhile, Obiano has been collecting over N1.25 billion as a security vote every month and this is the 8th year since he started collecting this monthly vote!
