BAVCCA would submit detailed petitions and evidence of alleged corrupt practices uncovered through its civic monitoring activities and digital investigations

The Bloggers and Vloggers, Content Creators Association of Nigeria (BAVCCA) has commended the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), Dr. Adebowale Adedokun, for what it described as significant achievements in reforming the nation’s public procurement system within a short period.
The association also pledged to support efforts aimed at strengthening government institutions, promoting transparency and tackling corruption in the country.
President of BAVCCA, Ikechukwu Chukwunyere, made the disclosure on Thursday at the 2026 BPP Procurement Reforms Conference held at the Women Development Centre in Abuja.
Speaking on the theme, “Celebrating Successes, Identifying Challenges, and Charting Solutions for Public Procurement Reforms,” Chukwunyere described Adedokun’s commitment to repositioning the procurement system as exceptional.
He said the reforms and institutional renewal initiatives under the BPP leadership had earned the association’s public commendation.
Chukwunyere, however, said BAVCCA would submit detailed petitions and evidence of alleged corrupt practices uncovered through its civic monitoring activities and digital investigations to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
According to him, the association had uncovered what he described as “deeply troubling patterns of wrongdoing” within some parts of the public system.
He said the documents to be submitted to the EFCC would identify the government institutions allegedly involved and highlight suspected acts of corruption uncovered during the association’s investigations.
“No institution is above scrutiny, and transparency must be matched with consequences where necessary,” he said.
Chukwunyere said public procurement went beyond contracts and administrative procedures, stressing that it involved the responsible management of resources belonging to Nigerians.
He noted that every naira saved through transparent and efficient procurement could be redirected to critical sectors, including infrastructure, healthcare, education and security.
The BAVCCA president called for stronger collaboration among the BPP, media organisations, civil society groups and digital content creators to deepen transparency and improve public understanding of procurement reforms.
He said digital media practitioners had a responsibility to ensure that information disseminated through their platforms was accurate, balanced and presented within the appropriate context.
“Responsible digital media can complement the work of institutions such as BPP by educating citizens, explaining procurement reforms, drawing attention to legitimate concerns and helping to counter misinformation,” he said.
Identifying capacity gaps, resistance to change, bid manipulation, data challenges and weak enforcement as some of the challenges facing the procurement sector, Chukwunyere said addressing them would require a collective effort beyond government.
He advocated stronger institutions, continuous professional development for procurement officers, greater use of technology, increased public awareness and responsible citizen participation.
On the 2027 general elections, Chukwunyere announced that BAVCCA was planning to organise presidential and governorship debates ahead of the polls.
He said the debates would provide candidates with opportunities to present their manifestos and explain their policies and development plans directly to Nigerians.
He also urged Nigerians to participate actively in the electoral process by registering to vote, obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and making informed choices based on competence, character, capacity and credible programmes.
The BAVCCA president further appealed to politicians and their supporters to avoid hate speech, incitement, violence and electoral malpractice.
He urged Nigerians not to sell their votes or allow themselves to be used to perpetrate violence, stressing that political differences should not be allowed to destroy relationships among citizens.
“Let us disagree politically without becoming enemies. Let us campaign on issues and ideas, not hatred and violence,” he said.
Chukwunyere maintained that building a better Nigeria required not only effective political leadership but also an informed, active and responsible citizenry.
