Ebubedike VinMartin Obiora Ilo has stepped down as President and Chief Executive Officer of Signature Communications Limited, owners of Signature Television, following his appointment as Chief Technical Adviser to the National Chairman of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
Ilo’s resignation, dated September 1, 2026, was announced on Thursday through the party’s Media WhatsApp platform.
The Board of Directors of Signature Communications Limited, in a statement signed by Udo Ilo, said the resignation took effect immediately.
The Board explained that the decision was necessary to maintain a clear distinction between Ilo’s new political engagement and the management and editorial responsibilities of Signature TV.
It said his appointment to a partisan political position made it appropriate for him to relinquish his day-to-day responsibilities at the television station, particularly its editorial direction, to prevent any actual or perceived conflict of interest.

To oversee the station during the transition, the Board appointed veteran journalist and broadcaster, Dr. Ken Ike Okere, as Interim President and Chief Executive Officer.
Okere has more than 20 years of experience in journalism, broadcasting, digital media and corporate communications. He previously held senior positions at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, including Director of Corporate Development and Communications, Director of Radio Nigeria Lagos and Zonal Director of Radio Nigeria South East.
He also served as Director of the National Broadcast Academy in Lagos and is currently Rector of the West Africa Broadcast & Media Academy.
The Board said Okere’s extensive professional background would ensure stability and continuity in the organisation.
It assured viewers, employees, advertisers, partners and other stakeholders that the change in leadership would not compromise Signature TV’s commitment to independent and professional journalism.
The station, according to the Board, would continue to provide balanced coverage of political, economic and public affairs, especially ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Board thanked Ilo for his contributions to Signature TV and wished him success in his new assignment.
