President Bola Tinubu has congratulated former Kaduna State Governor and former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ahmed Makarfi, on his 70th birthday.
In a birthday message issued on Saturday, August 8, 2026, the President described Makarfi as an accomplished public servant and statesman whose career has been defined by integrity, humility and exemplary leadership.
Tinubu commended the former governor for his contributions to governance and national development, describing him as a gentleman and a highly respected accountant whose public service record has earned him recognition across political divides.
The President noted that Makarfi had served Nigeria and Kaduna State in several capacities, including as Commissioner for Finance in Kaduna State, Governor of the state, Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and National Chairman of the PDP.
According to Tinubu, Makarfi demonstrated a strong commitment to democratic principles, prudent management of public resources and policies aimed at improving the welfare of Nigerians throughout his years in public office.
He also praised the former PDP chairman for maintaining civility in political engagements, as well as for his calm disposition and commitment to dialogue and national unity.
Tinubu said these qualities remained worthy examples for younger politicians and leaders seeking to contribute positively to the country’s democratic development.
The President expressed gratitude to Allah for Makarfi’s years of service and contributions to Kaduna State and Nigeria, while praying for continued good health, strength, wisdom and peace for the former governor.
He further wished Makarfi many more years of meaningful contributions to the nation and humanity.
