Yuletide: FERMA begins repairs on key federal roads in Kebbi

The repairs, which include pothole filling and asphalting, have already commenced, with engineers working tirelessly to meet the completion target

As the yuletide season approaches, the Federal Road Maintenance Agency, FERMA, has begun repairs on critical federal roads requiring urgent attention in Kebbi State.

The project tagged ‘Operation Connect to Your Destination’, launched nationwide, will benefit Kebbi State through the rehabilitation of two major corridors, the Kalgo-Bunza-Petals Road and the Argungu-Birnin Kebbi Road, spanning a total of 110 kilometers.

This major repairs follow directives from FERMA Managing Director, Engineer Chukwuemeka Agbasi, who inaugurated the initiative recently in Kano.

According to Kebbi State’s FERMA Road Maintenance Engineer, Rilwanu Usman, the project is divided into two key components: the Kalgo-Bunza-Peka Road and the Argungu-Birnin Kebbi Road.

The repairs, which include pothole filling and asphalting, have already commenced, with engineers working tirelessly to meet the completion target.

Rilwanu Usman highlighted the strategic importance of the Kalgo-Bunza-Petals Road as a key route linking Nigeria with Niger and Benin Republic.

While joining the FERMA engineers while flagging off the exercise, the Kebbi State Controller of the Federal Ministry of Works, Ishaya Vandhu, emphasized the importance of rehabilitating the 110-kilometer stretch of the Kalgo-Bunza-Peka and Argungu-Birnin Kebbi roads to ensure accident-free travel during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

Some motorists using the road expressed their happiness about the ongoing repairs.

As the festive season begins, the potholes on the roads pose significant risks to travelers. The ongoing repairs aim to ensure smoother, safer, and more motorable roads for all users.
