The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has apologised to electricity consumers in parts of Abuja and neighbouring communities following a fault on the Apo–Karu 132kV transmission line.
The company disclosed that the line tripped at 5:31 p.m. on Monday, October 12, 2026, cutting power supply to the Karu Transmission Substation.
According to TCN, a physical inspection by its engineers revealed a cut jumper on the yellow phase at Tower T2, necessitating urgent repairs to restore the line.
In a statement on Tuesday, October 13, the company said its maintenance crew was scheduled to undertake repair work on the affected transmission infrastructure.
The disruption has prevented the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) from supplying electricity to customers in Karu, Nyanya, Kugbo, Jikwoyi, Kurudu, Orozo, Karshi, Mararaba and adjoining communities.
TCN expressed regret over the disruption, assuring affected consumers that its maintenance crew would work to restore the transmission line to service.
The company’s management appealed for understanding from customers affected by the outage and apologised for the inconvenience caused by the incident.
