365Daily – The Policemen who used theirbpatrol vehicle to run over a man in Ekpoma, Edo State, have been taken into custody amd moved to Abuja for investigation.

This followed an order given by the Acting Inspector-General of Police (NPF), Olukayode Egbetokun, to that effect. He also condemned the action of the police officers who were caught on camera brutalising the man because he refused them access to his phone.

365Daily reported on Friday, June 30, that the victim was cuffed by the policemen and made to lie on the road. They then ran over him with a Sienna bus which one of them was driving, sparking outrage in the crowd of people who had gathered in the scene.

Reacting to the incident, Police spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the IGP had ordered the immediate transfer of the erring policemen, who he said have been in detention in Edo State, to the Force Headquarters in Abuja for further investigation and appropriate actions.

“The IGP has, therefore, directed the erring policemen, who have been in detention in Edo State, to report to the Force Headquarters Abuja on Monday for further action,” he said.

The spokesman urged members of the public, particularly the people of Ekpoma, to remain calm as the “present leadership of the NPF will not condone such an act of unprofessionalism and illegality.”
