TikTok influencer Barbie Nelly has become the centre of widespread online discussion after a car dealer publicly disputed claims that she purchased or received a Mercedes-Benz from his dealership.

The controversy began after Barbie Nelly shared a video featuring the luxury vehicle on Girlfriend’s Day, prompting many social media users to speculate that she had either bought the car or received it as a gift.

However, the dealer later issued a public disclaimer, stating that the influencer and her companion had merely visited his showroom to inspect the vehicle and that no transaction took place.

According to the dealer, the Mercedes-Benz was neither sold nor gifted to Barbie Nelly, contrary to the impression many viewers said they drew from the viral video.

The statement quickly gained traction online, sparking mixed reactions across TikTok, Facebook, and other social media platforms. While some users criticised and mocked the influencer, others urged caution, arguing that conclusions should not be drawn until both parties had fully addressed the matter.

The incident has since emerged as one of the most talked-about entertainment topics on social media, with numerous content creators posting reaction videos and sharing differing opinions on the controversy.

As of the time of filing this report, Barbie Nelly had not publicly responded to the dealer’s claims. There is also no independent evidence confirming that her original video was intended to suggest that the vehicle had been purchased or presented to her as a gift.

The controversy has reignited discussions about authenticity and transparency in influencer marketing, with many social media users calling on content creators to clearly distinguish promotional or aspirational content from personal achievements to avoid misleading audiences.
