The Obidient Movement has dismissed reports alleging that its National Coordinator, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, has been removed from office by its leader, Peter Obi, describing the claims as false and misleading.
In a statement issued by the movement’s Media and Communications Directorate, the group said the reports were entirely fabricated and intended to create confusion among its supporters.
According to the statement, the false report, attributed to an individual identified as Francis Nnoli, alleged that Obi had removed Tanko from his position under the directive of a purported “Obi-Kwankwaso (OK) Movement.”
The Obidient Movement, however, categorically denied the claim, insisting that Tanko remains the National Coordinator.
The directorate also clarified that Peter Obi neither removed Tanko nor authorised anyone to issue any statement suggesting a change in the movement’s leadership.
It stressed that any major political or organisational decisions concerning the Obidient Movement would only be communicated directly by Obi through his verified public communication channels.
The group also dismissed separate reports alleging that it had concluded plans to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), describing those behind such claims as “political jobbers” seeking to mislead the public.

The Obidient Movement urged its supporters, the media and the general public to disregard the reports, emphasising that they do not reflect the position of its leadership.
It further called on security agencies to investigate individuals allegedly impersonating the movement’s leadership and spreading false information capable of misleading Nigerians and undermining the group’s activities.
